w-inds. worldwide Letter Writing Campaign 2011

Last year, we collected letters from international w-inds. fans to put in w-inds.'s present box at their concert. This year we would like to do the same!

RULES

  1. We would like you to send your letter so that w-inds. will easily be able to see the stamp or postmark from your country on the envelope. We will not be opening the letters for any reason, so if you would like to use a special envelop or decoration, please send it as if you were giving it directly to w-inds.
  2. ---NO PRESENTS--- We will not accept anything other than letters. While it is a very nice gesture, keeping people's precious presents in our tiny apartment and transporting them to the concert venue is too much of a responsibility. w-inds. will be more than happy enough with your letter. If we get any packages, we will give them away to other people. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT SEND PRESENTS.
  3. We are not responsible for lost mail.
  4. We cannot guarantee w-inds. will read your letter, and if they do, please be aware that they probably will never mention it.

If you can follow those rules, please send us your letters by JULY 25TH! Please e-mail futarigafutaride@gmail.com for the address.

Thanks,
-Ash

MTV LIVE DAM VMAJ in OSAKA Sing For Smile Tour REPORT

MTV LIVE DAM VMAJ in OSAKA Sing For Smile Tour

Aoyama Thelma

While we were quite unfamiliar with this artist before the show, we must say her performance was very impressive. Although she joked about people not really being able to know the words of  her songs, she had fantastic crowd control and took the time to prep the crowd so everyone could join along. She did a good job of both making the crowd energetic with her upbeat numbers as well as showing off her singing skills in her ballads. That along with her very sweet personality completely won the audience over. She did a great job.

SHINee

Well, honestly we didn't and don't know too much about SHINee, but what we did learn was that SHINee fans are very, very, very, very, very, VERY passionate about SHINee. They received an incredibly warm welcome from their fans and their performance was perfect. They also spoke Japanese quite well. We'd love to give a more detailed report, but we don't know the members names, and only recognized Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer.

w-inds.

After SHINee went off stage, the SHINee fans nicely let w-inds. fans go further up so they could see better. We got a very nice view from second or third row center. Here was the setlist:

  • New World
  • Some More
  • Let's Get it On
  • MC
  • Kirei Da
  • Can't Get Back
  • Rain is Fallin'

Almost everything w-inds. was saying to the crowd during their songs was in English. Ryuichi came out with an energetic "What's up Party People?!" which made us nostalgic for the 1990s, but they got people to clap their hands and make noise which was great in a mixed crowd of fans.

Ryohei was wearing a Yankees cap with a red and blue patterned hoodie and jeans, Keita was wearing a wearing a yellowish plaid jacket with a studded  T-shirt and jeans (and muscles), and Ryuichi was wearing a denim outfit with his new hair. Sorry, we aren't fashion experts.

New World - What can be said? New World is flawless and perfect and the only way they could make it better is if they wore the blue jackets every time.

Some More - We're so glad that they're making some more one of their staple live songs. We love that Ryuichi and Ryohei get to have their singing parts, and also this song just makes you want to dance along. All three of them were really getting into making the "gimme gimme" motion at the fans which wa sfun.

Let's Get it On - Who ever came up with the handle dance is a genius. It's simple and everyone can follow along. The dance break in this song looks really, really impressive, too. People get really fired up about the raps, too.

MC

In this MC they talked a little bit about Keita's muscles which he decided not to show despite for many pleas from the audience and they did promotion for their BEST albums to be released on 6/22. When they noticed the energy dropping in the crowd while they were talking, they jumped right into another song which was a good strategy.

Kirei Da - We were so happy to see this song with them doing actual choreography! Of course Keita sounds great live, but the backing vocals by Ryuichi and Ryohei were also really, really nice today.

Can't Get Back - Only thing we can remember, but a funny thing: Keita did not drop to the floor today during the "aitai" part, but fans still screamed like he did.

Rain is fallin' - one of the coolest things about this performance was that when Can't Get Back ends, they bring their hands in front of their chest, and today they used this as a flawless transition into Rain is Fallin'.  The English in Ryohei and Ryuichi's raps have gotten so amazingly good, they must have been working on their pronunciation. Also noted the change from "GD and you" to "w-inds. and you". Sounds much better!

They were filming the show so they were showing off to the cameras a lot. There's going to be some pretty cool shots of them. Look forward to it!

After the show we very quickly were able to say thank you to the artists as we left. One of the foreign fans we brought with us was so happy to have the chance to meet w-inds. face to face that she started crying when she got outside.

We say this every time, but we mean it; w-inds. gets better and better with each performance. While SHINee may have a ton of fans, w-inds. looked like superstars up there. Keep up the good work, guys!

Thanks to all the artists for a great show!

w-inds. worldwide 10th Anniversary Scrapbook Project!

We'd like to put together a book of messages to w-inds. congratulating them on their 10th year anniversary.   To do this, we'd like each fan to design their own page for us that we'll print out and put in a scrapbook. We will put this scrapbook in the present box (if all goes well this time) on 428.

We'd love for you to make your page as personalized as possible. You can use your art, pictures of yourself or your hometown, your handwriting, things like that. Just please use your best judgement (i.e., no "sexy" or too revealing pictures).

We also want you to convey your love for w-inds. as much as possible! Creativity is key!

You must submit your page to our e-mail by April 24th, 2011. Please send it to futarigafutaride@gmail.com

We don't really know what kind of specifications to give to people about size and things like that, but just be aware that if it prints out strangely, we might have to edit it to make it work...and if it just looks strange, ...don't be mad at us?

[EDIT]: Paper size will be A4 so if your program can adjust to that size, please do so :) 2500 x 3300 pixels please!!

Also, considering the circumstances, it might also be nice to include well wishes for Japan's speedy recovery. It's up to you though, everyone can do whatever they want.

After we make the scrapbook (and when we have time) we'll put the submissions into an online album for all of us to be able to see.

We're looking forward to seeing your submissions!

Thanks,

-Ash and Melissa

w-inds. worldwide UPDATES!!

w-inds. worldwide updates - 3/22/2011

Due to the Earthquake, w-inds. worldwide suspended its activities for a short period. We'd like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for being patient and understanding during this trying time in Japan. Before we continue talking about ourselves, we want to list the charity information we received over the past few weeks.

HOW TO DONATE:

Some Japanese charity sites:
w-inds.POWER
http://justgiving.jp/c/2042
w-inds. POWER is a fundraising drive started by a w-inds. fan for w-inds. fans. The w-inds. members themselves have endorsed this group and have been rumored to have donated to it as well.

Tiny Voice Productions
https://justgiving.jp/c/1729
w-inds. producer Ryosuke Imai also started a fundraising drive on the same website. Many w-inds. fans have donated here.

**You must pay by mastercard or visa to donate to these sites. You can read the English guide here: http://justgiving.jp/pdf/justgiving-man.pdf?110318

PHOTOBOOKS

Those of you who ordered a photobook from us: We've received them, but we've been waiting for our Paypal limit to be reset. We're really sorry for the inconvenience and we'll be taking measures from now on to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future. We'll be sending out invoices soon for shipment costs.

VIDEOS

We will start working on videos again this week. We didn't find it appropriate to keep uploading them at a time when everyone's attention should have been elsewhere, but we're ready to get back in the saddle.

BOUQUET

Unfortunately, the w-inds. worldwide bouquet had already been finished prior to the cancelation of the Three Fourteen concert and therefore we couldn't get a refund for it. However, we've made a deal with the florist and Melissa and Ash will pay to have it remade for 428 provided that the concert still takes place.

MESSAGE PROJECT

We're going to start a message project for worldwide fans to e-mail us a message to deliver to w-inds.'s present box on 4/28. We'll have more information about this soon.

GOODS

As we said before, due to our banks and paypal's policies, we're going to have to work on a more efficient system for goods and money collection. This will mean some limitations are going to have to be put on how much people can order or spend. We haven't worked out the system yet, but we'll let you know in the near future.

GUIDE TO TWITTER ETIQUETTE AND W-INDS.

GUIDE TO TWITTER ETIQUETTE AND W-INDS.

Recently, there's been some really inappropriate behavior happening in the w-inds. twitter world. In light of Keita's recent tweet, we want to take the opportunity to address behaviors that we ourselves find upsetting. We cannot speak for w-inds., but just as decent human beings and fans.

Among the w-inds. world, there are lots of cultural differences. Maybe these kinds of things are okay where you live, but in general they are unacceptable.

**The "you" in this guide is directed at guilty people only. If you haven't done any of this, you shouldn't be offended.

DO NOTs:

1) DO NOT tweet "Why are you ignoring me?" (begging for replies)

Previously, on any given day, this particular tweet could be seen many, many times. And it's rude. While it is exciting to receive a reply from a member of w-inds., you are not entitled to getting a reply from them. Again, YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO GETTING A REPLY FROM W-INDS.! Some people are lucky and receive more than one reply from them. To a point, feelings of envy are understandable, but you should never express that to w-inds. themselves. That's childish.

Everyone needs to understand that these three guys are ridiculously busy and any time they take out for "Twitter Time" is usually out of their own personal time they should be using to relax. They don't HAVE to use twitter, therefore they don't HAVE to reply to you. So please, don't create a stressful atmosphere for them here.

2) DO NOT tweet "I hate you" (bashing and saying hurtful things)

Often times as a result of the "ignoring" mentioned above, people start to write angry tweets to w-inds. Countless times the words "I hate you" have been directed at the w-inds. members, mostly in an attempt to grab their attention. Some people would stop at nothing to get attention from them, even if it's negative. If you care about someone, how could you say such mean things to them? How would you feel if you went on twitter to relax after a hard day of work and you had thirty tweets from Keita saying "I hate you" "You're the worst" "You suck"? Try to put yourself in their shoes.

For people who don't like w-inds., of course they are entitled to their opinions, but when people who claim to be fans say hurtful things and bash them out of their own selfishness, it's sickening. Those people should be very ashamed.

3) DO NOT ATTACK PEOPLE WHO ARE ASSOCIATED WITH W-INDS.!!

There are some people with a jealous streak that like to say threatening things or harass people who associate or work with w-inds. Usually those targeted are females, and some fans get jealous of their relationship. This is psychopathic behavior and is unacceptable. Period.

4) DO NOT tweet "You should go to bed now!!!" "Don't eat that, you'll get fat!" (Mothering tweets)
While it's understandable and even sweet that people care so much about w-inds.'s well-being, you are not their mother, wife, or girlfriend, so please don't act like you are. They are 25 and 26 years old, they've survived life on this planet successfully so far, they don't need anyone's help unless they ask for it. They are free to live life how they want to do it, for better or for worse, and they don't need anybody's approval.

5) DO NOT tweet "Yeah...you're good, but [insert artist name] is better." or "You guys could have done ____ better."

w-inds. is the most self-aware artist there is. They are completely aware of their own shortcomings and they are working very hard every day to overcome them. These kinds of tweets do nothing but demotivate them. Think about how what you're saying would make them feel before you say it.

6) DO NOT spam w-inds.
To a degree, we're all guilty of this. We get excited and we tweet w-inds. a lot. Hashtag projects? Complete spam. This is fine, but what might be a little annoying is seeing the same exact tweet over and over and over again, even on our own timelines. They check their @ replies. They see what you're saying. If they don't wish to reply, they aren't going to do so. Don't pester them.

7) DO NOT tweet "Is it true???" (Tweets about rumors) added 2.18.2011
There comes a time in every famous person's career when he or she is the subject of rumors and/or is targeted by tabloids. When this happens to w-inds., the best course of action is to NOT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL, especially NOT to w-inds. themselves! If they aren't talking about the rumor publicly, it means they don't want to address it. And even if you mean well by telling them you support them in the matter, they'd actually probably prefer not to have drawn your attention to it in the first place. And honestly, it's their PRIVATE life... while we're curious, they can do whatever they want with or without anyone's permission. We don't have any right to know what they do off stage, it's completely their business. It's better to focus on the music and their performances and support them that way. Let's do our best to respect their privacy.

DOs:

1)DO tweet interesting things at them.
If you want a reply, the best way to get one is to actually give them something to which they actually CAN reply. Ask them a question, tell them your opinions about their music (politely). Show them something funny.

2) Please DO be aware that due to language barriers, your humor or jokes may not translate well.
Something you might mean to say as a joke might actually be considered to be really rude. If you're not sure if they will understand that what you're saying is a joke, put "Just kidding" after it. Make it clear.

3) Please DO be supportive.
Wish them luck before their performances, give them encouragement and energy to go on with their work.

4) Please DO treat w-inds. how you as a person would like to be treated.
Yes, they are celebrities, but at the end of the day, they're people too. Respect breeds respect, hate breeds hate. Just be considerate.

5) Please DO remember that English is NOT their native language and they use it as a service to foreign fans, so please be understanding and SUPPORTIVE of their efforts to use English without being overly critical of their mistakes.

I hope we all can be respectful to w-inds. and to each other from now on.

Thank you for reading this.

w-inds. worldwide questionnaire video series 2 questions!

We've picked the questions for the next series. We'll get to those in a second, but first I want to ask for your cooperation in adhering to some rules that will make the whole process a lot, lot easier for Melissa and I:

RULES

1) Please DO NOT send .wmv files. Please convert them to either .mov, .mp4, or .avi before sending them. This will save us a lot of time! :D

2) Please subtitle your videos in English if you are speaking a language other than English. Monica and Irene from Mexico did this and it really helped a lot! If you can't subtitle, please send us an English translation in your e-mail when you send us the video.

3)Please make your answers clear. Please, please, please think about what you're saying and try to make your answers as clear as possible without using a lot of fillers (uhh...umm....etc). I know, this is hard for me too. I tried to cut out a lot of it last time but when the fillers were in the middle of an important thought, it was hard to maneuver around it.

4)Remember that you can do more than one take of a question. If you want to send me each question in a separate video file, that's fine! If you were going to do this, though, I'd appreciate it if you could send them in a .zip file!

5)PLEASE DO NOT USE COPYWRITTEN MATERIALS IN YOUR VIDEO. I know that background music and such adds a nice touch, but it also puts the video in danger of being flagged for removal. Also sometimes it's difficult to hear what you're saying with the BG music.

6)PLEASE KEEP EDITING TO A MINIMUM. This means try not to use fancy transitions and things like that that might make it difficult for me to smoothly put your video into the lineup. But of course feel free to edit out things that you said but didn't like, etc.

7)Please be aware that if we receive a ton of videos, we might rotate who gets to be in a video or not each week. I don't foresee this being a problem, but just in case please don't get angry.

So the deadline for the QUESTIONNAIRE VIDEOS: Japan Time February 5th, 2010! Please e-mail us with any concerns.

Send your videos to futarigafutaride@gmail.com. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND COUNTRY WITH YOUR MAIL.

Please have a look at the questions/topics:
